The school believes in being outward looking and we seek to build strong links with the local community as well as appreciating the rich diversity of cultures from around the world. Over the years, the school has supported many charitable causes, notably the 'Parallelephant' project which raised money for a Ugandan School Charity.
In 2010, the pupil's turned their fundraising attention closer to home and elected to support the Children's Hospice South West.
The Children's Hospice South West helps to make the most out of short and precious lives. They do everything they can to help make the most of every moment a very sick child has at the hospice and with their family. This includes giving them one-to-one specialist care, having fun times through play, music, outings and crafts - simple pleasures that many of us take for granted.
Much of the fundraising activity by the pupils as well as thirty percent of all monies raised by the PTA is donated to Children's Hospice South West. Over the last year, we have been able to donate over £20,000, raised at the Paragon School ball Auction and from other activities, such as Santas on the Run. This has enabled the hospice to pay for an additional care worker.
Paragon staff, parents and pupils have visited the nearest hospice, in Bristol, and a care worker has been to the school to describe the work that she does with the children and their families. In the future, The Paragon will forge further links with the charity.
