...from the Headmaster.
I hope this website gives you some idea of what makes this school such a dynamic and vibrant place.
Several factors help create the 'distinctive Paragon atmosphere'. One is undoubtedly the homely, intimate feel that comes from being based in a beautiful Georgian house, a former family home.
Then there's our Christian ethos and strong pastoral care, the way we involve parents and members of the local community and our belief that school at this age is about being stimulated and inspired, about laughter and spontaneity - in short, about having fun. We may be a private school and we certainly expect high standards of behaviour but we're anything but stuffy and grey.
We're proud of our consistently impressive academic results but we strive for much more than success in exams. We believe in developing the whole person - physically, spiritually, and emotionally as well as intellectually. As W.B Yeats said: "Education is not filling a bucket but lighting a fire." I hope the fire we light at The Paragon will burn brightly, lighting up your child's life long after he or she has left here.
We are delighted that the ISI inspectors have wholeheartedly endorsed our vision and success. There are over 100 prep schools in the South West of England. Just two schools have achieved top grades in every category of their ISI inspection report. One of those schools is The Paragon!
A bit about me
I'm a Paragon parent as well as its Headmaster and so I have a strong personal interest in making this the best school it can possibly be. After going to Eton College, I taught Tibetan refugees in India during my GAP year and it was here that I discovered a love of teaching. I studied Art History at university and trained to teach in Oxford. Since then I've worked in two London state schools and international schools in Uganda and Italy. I firmly believe that our children's years at school should be some of the best of their lives and am determined to make this true for Paragon children.
Titus Mills, Headmaster
"Convincing head: high octane energy meets sophisticated unconventionality. High levels of commitment and sensitivity soon become apparent."
