An Eco Assembly by 4IH

Parents, teachers and pupils were treated to an assembly by Mrs Howden's Year 4 class today. The children covered some very important topics about two ecological issues - plastic waste and palm oil, which are threatening the planet.

In a week where we experienced the hottest February day on record which has been attributed to climate change, their presentation was very timely. Children had recorded their own adverts using a green screen, where they used imperative verbs to get across their important messages about our overuse of plastic and our consumption of palm oil.

Their facts and figures about plastic in the fish that we eat, the amount of plastic that is poured into our oceans every day and the quantities of forest felled each day for oil was very enlightening, and they persuaded parents and pupils to think twice about what we buy and the packaging that it is in.

Food for thought for the weekend!
