The Paragon School Parents' Newsletter: May 2012

WORDS FROM THE CHAIR OF THE PTA

‘Rain, rain go away, come back another day’ ….Just not on May 19th!

The May Fayre at The Paragon School is taking place on Saturday May 19th between 12pm and 3pm.  This year we have decided to have a gourmet Barbie, with 6oz steak burgers and artisan bread, tomato chutney and rocket.  You’ll be able to eat your fill and wash it down with a beer or Pimms from the bar.  We hope all Paragon families will take this great opportunity to come and celebrate our great school community.  Bring your friends and family.

Don’t forget to buy your raffle tickets and to enter the great balloon race.  Tickets came home in bags but there will be more on the day, or see a class rep in the playground.  Bouncy castles, inflatable obstacle courses, story-telling, panning for gold, flying merry go rounds - it’s all happening!  Now we just need the sunshine and YOU!

Thanks to everyone who has already agreed to organise a stall.  If you haven’t already, please sign up on the board in reception to give your support for an hour or so.  Dads needed on the barbie and the bar!

Event round –up

Quiz Night – for the first time in a while, we held the event off site, at The Mill at Rode.  It meant that there was no set up, no clean up and everyone was therefore able to enjoy their evening.  Thanks go to Dave and Kate Gentle who were brilliant quiz hosts! The event raised £347.

Anything is possible – Our huge thanks to Victoria Humphries and Sue Riches who gave the most fantastic talk about their world-breaking record walk to the North Pole.  I think everyone who attended would agree that they learnt lots and left amazed, inspired and in awe of their achievement.  The talk raised £347 towards our fundraising target and £255 for the army benevolent fund. Fantastic!

Thursday Café

Thursday café and donuts will be making a welcome return as soon as the weather allows.  We need some parents to help serve so if you can offer a Thursday afternoon (2.45–4.30) please let Kate Butters know on katebutters@yahoo.co.uk or via the parents committee e-mail: parentscommittee@paragon.priorpark.co.uk
It’s a great afternoon to catch up and have a chat.  We hope to see you there.
