Admissions

Prospective families are warmly invited to arrange a meeting with our Head of School, Mr Malcolm Bond, and to take a tour of the school. This will provide you with a chance to ask any questions you may have and give you a flavour of all that The Paragon has to offer.  

If you feel that the school is the right fit for your child and family, you will be asked to compete a registration form along with a registration fee of £125, payable by bank transfer to the school's bank account, or by Flywire.  We will also ask you to send us your child's latest school report.

As places are limited,  we recommend completing a registration form at your earliest convenience. If there are no places available in the year group requested, we will add you to our waiting list. 

We offer all prospective pupils a taster / assessment session with us. This is an exciting way for your child to experience a little of what The Paragon has to offer, whilst comfortably interacting with their peer group. It also enables us to gain a better understanding of your child’s learning and behavioural needs during the course of the day.  Following the session, and when feedback has been collated by all staff involved in your child's day, we will be able to discuss the offer of a place. 

Squirrels Pre-School:
Prior to the proposed admission to either Squirrels or Reception, children are invited to attend a one-hour visit to the Squirrels setting. During this visit, children will have the opportunity to engage in play with their peers and participate in various pre-school activities, allowing them to become familiar with the environment. In addition, the Early Years team will spend time with each child to assess how best to meet their individual needs. Mrs. Beccy Hughes, Head of Early Years, will be available to address any questions or concerns you may have.

Reception: Children looking for mid-year entry into Reception or Year 1 the following year are invited to spend a couple of hours in the Reception classroom when they will participate in classwork and read to a teaching assistant. 

Pre-Prep: Children who are looking for entry into Years 1 and 2 are invited to come to the school and meet their peer group and a member of the Pre-Prep teaching team. Your child will be assigned a buddy for this session. During the visit, they will be asked to read with a teacher and complete age appropriate Maths and English worksheets so that we can assess their learning to date.  The session will be exciting and fun with lots of opportunities for your child to interact.  

Prep: Children who are looking for entry into Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 are invited to come to the school and meet their peer group and a member of the Prep teaching team. Your child will be assigned a buddy for the day. If your child has a particular interest in Music, Art or PE/Games please inform the Registrar who will endeavour to include the experience in their day. During the day, we will conduct short assessments in Math and English, whilst the children participate with normal lessons so that we have an overview of their abilities.  

Learning Support: Should you feel that your child requires additional support, please raise this with the Registrar. We would be grateful if you could share all professional reports early on in the admissions process so that we can share them with our SENDCo.  

Offers of a place will be made to pupils who demonstrate that they are able to access The Paragon's broad curriculum during their taster day with us. 

Once we have formally made an offer of a place, we will ask you to complete an Acceptance Form, accepting our terms and conditions as detailed in the Parental Contract. An acceptance deposit of £500 is also payable, and will be held by the school until such a time as your child leaving, in which case it will be credited against  your final bill, or reimbursed. 

As places are in demand, we ask you to confirm your place within 10 days of receipt of an offer email. After this period, your place may be offered to another family.
