"Camping at Mill on the Brue was so exciting, and I discovered that I wasn't scared of heights!" Year 4 pupil
We offer a rich mix of school trips and activity days to enhance the children's learning and experiences; these include a week in France for children in Year 6, a week in Osmington Bay for Year 5, and three days at Mill on the Brue for Year 4.
Throughout the year, visits are planned for each year group to bring topic work to life. Pupils visit local museums, historical sites such as the Holburne Museum, We the Curious, The Bristol Aquarium, Wild Place, Montacute House, M-Shed in Bristol and SS Great Britain. Many themed events are held on the school site, such as a Shakespeare Week, World Book Week and Maths Day as well as themed fundraising days. Children frequently enter local inter-school Maths and Knowledge Challenges.
We welcome guest speakers to assemblies on a regular basis as well as visitors to individual classrooms. Often these are parents or friends with a particular expertise who can provide that extra special bit of insight that can strike a chord with young children.
We offer a fantastic choice of extra-curricular activities every week - from pottery and chess to sewing club and Samba Band. In addition, our friends Super Pirates run an after-school club each evening at The Paragon, which continues until 6 pm.
Over the course of the year, we run more than 65 clubs at lunchtime and after school, giving children the chance to enjoy variety and explore new interests. For most activities, the focus is on enjoyment and discovery, while some clubs are by invitation only to ensure children are supported at the right level. To find out more, you can download the latest club list from our Parent Hub. Our clubs can be grouped into those that are creative, active, musical or dramatic, or provide challenge and knowledge—there’s truly something for everyone!
