From Biathlon to Finals: A Standout Week for Prep Sport

From Biathlon to Finals: A Standout Week for Prep Sport

Last weekend, we proudly cheered on 28 Prep children in the British Biathlon Schools Championships. They all performed extremely well, with many showing improved performances since the qualifier back in November. It is a wonderful experience to represent the school in a national competition. Well done, everyone!

On Monday, our children in Years 3 and 4 swapped hockey and netball for football as they headed off to various venues around the city for festivals and training. They also competed brilliantly in their inter-house swimming gala on Wednesday. We are proud to say that nobody needed to swim with the aid of a float - the first time ever! This demonstrates the strength of the school swimming programme, as well as the time spent taking external lessons away from school (keep those up!).

The results of the gala were as follows:

1st — Abbey
2nd — Crescent
3rd — Milsom
4th — Holburne

On Tuesday, our U11A hockey team travelled to Millfield to compete in the West of England Hockey Finals. They dominated their group with wins against Blundell’s, Millfield, Alverton and Dumpton Prep; a draw against Heywood; and only one loss, against Dean Close. They faced a strong Cheltenham side in the semi-finals but outperformed them to win 1–0, setting up a final against Dean Close. It was a close match, ending in a 1–0 win for Dean Close and a runners-up medal for our boys. We couldn’t be prouder!

On Wednesday afternoon, the Year 6 girls were excited to hit the pool to create group synchronised swimming routines, while the Year 5 girls and the boys were put through their paces on the football pitch by our guest coaches from Future of Football.

Finally, Thursday was a big day out for our Rugby Sevens team at Rosslyn Park. Their hard work and training resulted in some exceptional performances and great results. Well done to the team!
