This morning, students at Prior Park College were treated to a special May Day moment as our Schola Cantorum once again climbed to the top of the Health Centre roof to welcome the arrival of summer with song.
This growing tradition at Prior Park echoes a much older custom, dating back over 500 years, seen at places like Magdalen College, Oxford, where choirs greet the dawn of May 1st from high vantage points with music.
Our most select choir, Schola Cantorum, performed the much-loved madrigals such as 'Now is the Month of Maying' and 'Sumer is icumen in', filling the morning air as students and staff passed below.
