Year 6 hold WWII Exhibition for Parents

During the final week of term, Year 6 welcomed parents, families and fellow pupils to the School Hall for their annual Second World War Exhibition, sharing the culmination of months of research, teamwork and creativity.

Working in groups, the pupils explored a wide range of topics, each focusing on a different aspect of wartime Britain. Displays covered everything from the roles of women and animals during the war to evacuation, rationing, ammunition, the work of Alan Turing and the codebreakers, and life on the Home Front. Each project combined careful research with thoughtfully presented displays and interactive elements.

The exhibition gave the children the opportunity to share what they had learned throughout the project, talking visitors through their displays and answering questions about their chosen topics.

Some pupils baked recipes inspired by wartime rationing, giving visitors the chance to sample food made using ingredients that would have been available during the 1940s. There was also a gas mask for visitors to try on, offering an insight into an item that became part of everyday life during the war.

The exhibition marked the conclusion of the pupils' Second World War topic, highlighting the historical knowledge they had developed alongside their research, collaboration and presentation skills.
