Year 2 enjoyed a fantastic day out on Brunel's former passenger steamship in Bristol this week. SS Great Britain is one of the most important historic ships in the world. When she was launched in 1843, forming the transatlantic service between Bristol and New York, she was called 'the greatest experiment since the Creation'.
As part of their topic on Brunel the children had a guided tour of the ship's kitchens, dining room and the deck. They travelled back in time to Victorian Britain in a workshop, to tackle one of Brunel's challenges by helping build SS Great Britain and they discovered what it was like to attend the launch of the famous ship.
We would like to extend our thanks to the museum staff for providing such an educational day out for The Paragon's Year 2!
