Year 6 House Captains were invited to Bath's RUH on Friday 24th January to visit the brand new Orthodontics & Maxillofacial Unit. The visit was a 'thank you' from the hospital's Forever Friends Appeal, for the funds raised by The Paragon last term which were used to buy hygiene packs containing toothbrushes, toothpaste, egg timers and a hygiene chart. One of the Senior Nurses explained to us that the packs are invaluable as many visitors to the department do not own a toothbrush, and so in order for their treatment to be successful, they need to be brushing every day.
The children were given a tour of the various treatment rooms, and shown all of the latest technology which has been installed in the unit, and they were also shown some of the conditions that their teams have to treat. One of the pupils said that "Everything was amazing in the Orthodontics Department - the staff were all really kind and my favourite part was looking at some of the different cases they have had".
It was really exciting to see exactly how the fundraising that we do at The Paragon is used to help others, and we extend our thanks to the RUH staff who gave the children such an interesting tour.
Watch this space for the next Forever Friends fundraising day!
