Following the Government’s announcement that it is safe for schools to reopen to certain year groups from 1st June, The Paragon has welcomed back Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 pupils, together with children in Squirrels Nursery. We are keeping at the forefront of our minds the need to protect children, staff and parents, and are following the guidelines set out by the Government’s scientific advisors. A raft of safeguards introduced include the recommended ‘class pod’ system of no more than 15 pupils working and playing in isolation from other groups of pupils, a staggered start and end to the day, and staggered breaks and lunchtimes. Excellent hygiene is essential to ensure we prevent the spread of the virus as much as possible and so additional cleaning procedures have been implemented and the pupils regularly wash their hands thoroughly during the school day.
Our focus is on ensuring both the emotional and academic wellbeing of the children. We understand that some children may need more support with reintegration and their wellbeing. This has been a time of great upheaval for them and we are mindful of the changes to their school experience and how this will feel for them.
Pupils in other year groups and those whose parents have chosen to keep their children at home for now are continuing to be taught remotely.
